The shield is helpful but is mostly not needed. Shotguns are not the best choice if u plan on runnin away, but if u plan to stay in one spot, a shotgun is fine, otherwise a rifle,or even a pistol would be better. Fro a close range weapon other than short knife, u want somthing that is light and has a one hit kill capability.
