Robert Sherer is an artist that probably won’t be able to expose his artworks in museums such as Louvre. And the reasons is obvious for many. The following set, American Pyrographs, deals with male adolescence using wood, paint and a burning tool used in summer-camp. The paintings certainly have a unique touch, even if we’re talking about the topic or the painting method. For me, American Pie comes to mind, but with a slightly different twist.

Artwork from a pedophile.
Not to put too fine a point on it, pedophilia is sex between an adult and a pre- adolecent child. I see neither adults nor pre-adolecent boys here with the exception of the image of one grown man serving a drink to another grown man. The boys here are post-adolecent and only interacting with each other in the way that most of us, gay or staigtht, did at that age. This is a natural learning activity that is as old as mankind. Read a history book (and I don’t mean one written on a third grade level). I not only see no perversion here, but sweet memories of my own youth. The perversion is in your own mind. And Jesse, we are all glad that you never went to camp too!

Morgan Eubanks said it much better than I can, but It is really sad when you are labeled a pedophile when you portray adolescents in art in anything that suggests that they actually are sexual and doing what they have always done. And no amount of wishing it away is going to make it happen. You like the art of not, but it is ART !
Robert Sherer is not a pervert. He is an artist trying to recount the humorous, tender and awkward moments of his youth. It must be very difficult for him to tell his story considering the current climate of knee-jerk reactions and misguided morality. If he had depicted these same scenes but with heterosexual youths you all would be praising as a great artist. What a bunch of hypocrites!
In the future, before falsely accusing someone of pedophilia, perhaps you should examine the evidence and question your own prurient interests. Your heterosexual popular culture is packed with young girls tarted up for the delectation of older males and we hear no complaints from anyone about that. Read the statistics on child molestation and you will see that the vast majority of perpetrators are heterosexual and are from within the family or church. Enough with your hysteria!
I actually found these quite disturbing, and they made me feel quite uncomfortable. I came accross them accidentally and had to air my thoughts.
I can’t understand how anyone would find these pictures of innocence of a lost youth. There’s the one of a boy scout doing a Nazi salute with a swastika symbol in the background. Another with the two boysin the bed with the comment on the wall, good boys keep their arms above the covers while one of them has his arms under the covers. The 2 boys that have their nakedness covered by leaves and one handing the other a banana with a snake spiraled around a tree. I know, maybe reading through the lines, but that is what artist do, they make you read between the lines.
