Travelodge recently opened a hotel made entirely from prefabricated shipping containers. The 120-bedroom hotel is located in Uxbridge, England and uses 86 containers of different shapes and sizes. This new type of construction is reported to have save the owner over a million pounds and 10 years of construction work. Here’s how the giant looks like!
Emma Mærsk, the Danish container, currently is the world’s largest container and – as of 2008 – the longest ship in use. The ship was dubbed the SS Santa due to its load – in 2006 it was headed to the United Kingdom from China loaded with Christmas goods. Luckily for the planet and for our sake, the ship has several features for protecting the environment – it can recycle the exhaust, mixed with fresh air, back into the engine for reuse.
