RECESS IS FOR THE POLITICALLY CORRECT Certainly, we know that school safety is important in today’s world, due to all the violence that takes place in some them. In their ambition to be vigilant, however, did one Michigan elementary school get way too paranoid recently? In this case, a 6-year-old kindergartner was treated more like Al Capone than a regular little kiddie on the playground. Why? Because he used his hand and fingers to simulate pointing a gun at some of his other fellow tykes. The result? He was suspended by upset officials who, apparently, believe this makes him ripe for becoming a serial killer one day. His perplexed mom claims the kid doesn’t understand what the big deal is, since he was just playing and- let’s be clear here… he was just pointing his finger. Not all pretend games result in a child going gangsta. “Time Out” would have been far more effective on a kindergartner than a suspension. There’s a big difference in adults being careful and being suckas. In this situation, I think it was clearly the latter.
