What…no bird’s nest? I would think something used for hundreds of years, fetching $900-$4,500 per lb ($55-$280 per oz) would be on this list over macadamia nuts which are comparatively dirt cheap. Even a bowl of bird’s nest soup will set you back >$30 and there’s only about 3/4 of an ounce in the soup!

First of all, guy, cruelty happens at the hands of the rich and not so rich so your comment is ridiculous.

Moe, Saffron is not just Iranian, it is native to southwest Asia, (i know Iran is there so no stupid comments)but it is produced in many countries, a country cant claim a plant being theirs, that is the stupidest thing I ever heard, does it only grow in Iran?? because I have read that the largest producer of saffron is Spain, not Iran, in fact if you read the papers now you will see that Spain is having problems controling the quality of their saffron (its supposed to be the best) because Iranian, Greek and Moroccan saffron of lesser quality keeps on being labeled as Spanish.

To those who are offended by such spending, it is a voluntary tax on wealth, ego, and the ambition for status that redistributes wealth to more practical people as quickly as possible.
I am always cheered by such extravagances, putting cash in the hands of those with more sense. It shows that capital can still be concentrated for more useful purposes for those with vision, and those in need.
