The New Tokyo Fashion Trend
April 15, 2008 - 1,052 views
I think the fashion trend in Japan has gotten a little out of hand. The love for animated TV shows combined with a sligtly twisted mind results in a very aukward appearence you’d turn away from. Where are the cute girls imitating Sailor Moon?

Got something to say?

Is this a final fantasy live action movie promo?
Freaks forever!
“Aukward?”
Are you from Awkland or something?
These people are just imitating their favorite J-rock & Visuak Key bands. It has nothing to do with anime.
For example, here’s Kyo from Japanese band Dir en Grey

The person on pic #3 might be a huge fan of him.
Is the last one Drew Carey?
Is that last one a dude?
In America, we call those people crazy. In Japan, they call them crazy. Nut jobs exist everywhere.
I really like it. I love seeing people decorate themselves. does it really need to matter why? definitely keeps life interesting! who wants to look the same all the time anyway
Seems like cosplay to me
Only in Japan huh? Looks like a busy day in the South Side of Pittsburgh to me.
Japanese are great people. Too bad their nation is too old like Serbian.
Last chick looks like Drew Carry haha.
The last one looks like a female Drew Carey!
Heck, I find most of those chicks much hotter than Sailor Moon wannabees..
id root a couple of em.
so not “new”. most of those are basic goth for japan, and the scene has been around for a very long time. cool pics, though.
This is hardly “new” - that look has been around for ages.
You are a vanilla dick, wrapped in a manila envelope.
What you say about Japanese culture just shows you for what you really are.
New? The whole cos-play-zoku thing has been going on for over a decade now. If anything, this fashion “boom” has been losing steam over the past few years, not growing.
It’s not fashion
What’s wrong with that? Looks nice — if you’ve been bitten by a zombie. Here in Toronto, it’s all zombies nowadays. Me is one!
It’s just absolutely beautiful!!!!
OMG that last one is totally drew carey
Some how these are shocking you??? I’ve been in the rave scene since the mid-90s and I’ve seen far worse.
They are all (most likely) Harajuku Girls, which is a general term for young people who hang around the Harajuku Station in Tokyo.
Harajuku Girls is a very broad general term used (mostly) by westerners and encompasses all the different Goth, Anime and Punk styles that these people follow.
Honestly I think they’re awesome, simply because their styles are usually completely outrageous, and the common denominator with these kids is “I totally don’t give a flying f**k”
This is to Sokobanja: “Japanese is great people”- Japanese is a culture made up of a certain ethnic group. Japanese people are great and interesting and intelligent. Secondly, “Too bad their nation is too old like Siberian.” You mean Siberia? Siberian is the culture, not the place. And their nation being old, what does that have to do with anything? The history of a place gives it character. You are a fool.
Oh and these girls are Hot!! And courageous for being themselves and living outside the normal box.
Some how these are are perfect and are charming

I think, that they charming, it is simple, because their all styles unusual are not shocking
Excuse for my bad English language
Most of those are Dir en grey cosplay.
Oh, god forbid Japan had a hard rock scene.
All but TWO of these pictures are inspired by Dir en grey, mostly their older stuff.
