Male and females are represented differently all across the world. One of the proofs for this statement is the diverse representations of toilet signs in different corners of the globe. While some tried to make the signs as obvious as they can get, others went out of their way to be creative. Here are some of the wackiest, funniest or oddest men and women toilet signs.

I am not sure that I would know which one to go into for some of those. I would just make my best guess. like wtf is damen and herran.

Posted by Dan W. | May 19th, 2008 6:09 pm

Glad to see you included the signs from the Fantasy and Science Fiction museum in Seattle!

Posted by Stem | May 19th, 2008 6:48 pm

all of these are offensive. Gender division is arbitrary and stems from capitalism just like racism.

Posted by Mike | May 19th, 2008 6:54 pm

Stem – stfu you dumb twit.

Cool collection – I like the one with the barbies in the holes. Nicely done.

ROX!!! A Mari se amarrou!!! hehehe

Posted by FailBot | May 19th, 2008 7:52 pm

Joe Taylor you’re fired. That’s women and men in German. The one with the barbie dolls is at an excellent cocktail bar in Germany as well. Lovely place.

Posted by dumbfounder | May 19th, 2008 7:53 pm

@Stem
boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.

Posted by veep | May 19th, 2008 7:56 pm

damen = woman
herren = man

it’s german.

Posted by Andrew | May 19th, 2008 8:18 pm

You’ve wasted your life…

Posted by Jim (Get Gas for Free) Rogers | May 19th, 2008 8:35 pm

Some of these signs you really have to think “Which one is the male and which is female..” – I am sure people get it messed up all the time.

Posted by Zooph | May 19th, 2008 8:40 pm

Just pee on the ground if you’re that confused…

Posted by handicrapped | May 20th, 2008 12:24 am

The sign showing a man peeking over the stall to watch the woman is exactly why unisex bathrooms should never come to fruition. That is just asking for trouble (and lawsuits).

As diferentes culturas representam a figura humana de formas diversas. Boa prova disso é esta colecçom de ícones de casas de banho….

Posted by Snurre | June 16th, 2008 11:20 am

@dumbfounder I think what he means is that having separate toilets for men and women is a kind of gender apartheid system which he doesn’t care for, no matter how the signs are designed to look.

@Bjarni No you’re wrong. In Swedish it is “damer” and “herrar” and in Danish and Norwegian it’s “damer” and “herrer”.

I am so glad to see that someone out there is paying attention to the Bathrooms, and not just running in and out. The artwork is as good sometimes as the things going on in them. Its like the forgotten room. Would it be so terrible if a person actually got the signs confused and ended up in the room. Worst thing that could happen is you might see something interesting. Maybe even do something interesting. Would save you some money on a drink. The person would be half naked all ready.
