The World’s Biggest Spiderweb

This might be one of the biggest, if not the biggest spiderweb ever found. This huge web was found covering 180 meters of trees and bushes by the employees of park Lake Tawakoni in Texas. It’s not yet clear if this “work of art” has been made by a single or a colony of spiders. The web was initially white, but turned dark when all the mosquitoes got caught in it. Also, nothing was said about the species of spider found at the location. Until further information is provided, here is the huge white web.

actually it is a spider-web, not all spiders sin spiral webbing, some have chaotic styled approaches such as the Black Widow, others coat surfaces in webs such as our little friend in the picture above or even ground spiders such as a the Trap-Door spider. Although this web above was not created by one spider, it is created by a colony, so-to-speak, of these particular spiders, they just coat everything. Having a problem with bugs, get a few of these for your garden :)

Why are some spider webs called cobwebs. Cobweb comes from the Middle English or Middle Dutch word for spider, coppe, web.

  5. Walrus2008-03-01 00:20:43

a cob web is a spider web. there are many different designs.

eric y and jay whitlow attempted to produce something similar for sammie's birthday party but they got all caught up in the spray stuff and were unfortunately entombed in the process. sammie had a much happier birthday due to this.

nice but I saw a redback spider did the same web.

  37. Geo2008-07-25 04:37:24

This is incredible, but still, it must have obviously been a colony. This is not a the work of a single spider. Well, another thing is, it doesn't look like just one web, it looks like multiple webs created in a single area.

  38. CarpeNoctu2008-08-18 11:12:31

Well... They do say everything's bigger in Texas...

  39. bialass2009-01-02 16:56:29

woah! the scariest and the biggest f.ckin spiderweb i've ever seen! beauty ;-)!

  40. chipt2009-02-26 07:46:22

Dear God, what an amazing web. It reminds me of the web an Argentinian Wolf Spider created in my Uncle Hudsons stump after his left leg was amputated. He couldn't afford the amputation in the US, so had it done in Argentina. The "doctor" was also a shoemaker and chef, and he did the surgery in a dank, dimly lit shed full of old boots and rotten melons. A wolf spider nested in the wound, and began the web in 1984, finishing in 1997. My Aunt Vertheen charges $3 for people to come see his stump-web, on account of he begins screaming from the pain every day long 'bout 3 o'clock, and she has to put Crisco all over it to keep him from gouging his eyes out with a can opener. Spiders are teriffic!

  41. Tyas2009-03-27 16:08:40

    Wonderfull and spectacullarly

  42. geromy Tater2009-04-10 22:20:45

I've walked into spiderwebs before, but THIS is one I dont wanna get involved with. It sort of reminds me of the spider cave in LOTR: Return of the king. Also was that a BIRD trapped in the web in one of the pictures?

  43. honeysweet162009-05-19 10:36:28

"We're gonna need a bigger gutter rake..." It's a freaky Cthulhu cocoon. Or a giant spider's cobweb. Or an alien spewed his soda on a bunch of trees. Either way, it's an awesome thing. I wanna go there! :)

  44. Mystic2009-06-04 14:51:39

Lmao....my friend is totally scared of spiders...i can imagine him riding into the cobweb on his bike...the look on his face..

  45. Mystic2009-06-04 14:53:01

Tom ward....why are you looking at this website? it's not anything that relates to your work. "now get of before you get an "afterschool"

  46. Miss.Dynda2010-02-21 19:14:51
