The World’s Biggest Spiderweb
February 28, 2008 - 2,003 views
This might be one of the biggest, if not the biggest spiderweb ever found. This huge web was found covering 180 meters of trees and bushes by the employees of park Lake Tawakoni in Texas. It’s not yet clear if this “work of art” has been made by a single or a colony of spiders. The web was initially white, but turned dark when all the mosquitoes got caught in it. Also, nothing was said about the species of spider found at the location. Until further information is provided, here is the huge white web.

*hums Spiderman theme*
WAAH
i don like spiders!!
Isn’t that a cob-web, I don’t think it’s a spider-web.
@Television Spy:
Cobwebs are spider webs and spider webs are cobwebs. Cobweb is derived from the middle English word “coppeweb” from coppe — meaning spider.

‘It’s not yet clear if this “work of art” has been made by a single or a colony of spiders.’
It’s a colony, obviously. Why would you even suggest otherwise?
These comments aren’t that good.
i like spiders
I don’t usually consider myself afraid of spiders, but there is no way I am going anywhere near that.
Cob-webs are just old spiderwebs, are they not?
to bad it has nothing to do with water… then the appropriate line would be “we’re gonna need a bigger boat”
whats the difference between a cob-web and spider-web …?
spider-webs are pretty neat eh … ???
Nope… definitly a Tangle web.
From the wikipedia definition of cobweb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobweb)
* A spider web - cobweb is an alternate word, derived from the Middle English coppeweb (from coppe, meaning “spider”, a word that was introduced to England by Dutch invaders and originally pronounced ‘kab’).
INCREDIBLE these spiders have probably spun one of the largest community webs spun in historry, i quess that means lots of mating and lots of feeding on all the 0WN3D males in the group!
I live in the Dallas area and my mom lives out there at the lake and I went to see it. It is only about an hour from the Dallas and totally worth it. Very creepy.
TVSpy: Cob-webs are old spider webs.
Thousands of spiders created that web, seem to remember the same picture being in the paper about 6 months ago
Still amazing though.
I used to think a cob-web and spider web were different. I looked it up and it turns out that they are made by tiny spiders - cob spiders.
As for the web - I would hate to walk into that in the middle of the night…
usually cobwebs happen as dust culminates on ceilings, corners or in sheds - not outside where wind and elements can easily destroy them..
Burn it down. I hate spiders.
That is so beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like this. Its breath taking. At the same time I must say it is also a little scary.
It’s a colony of spiders. This was reported several months ago.
Umm, a cob-web and a spider-web are synonyms. It does remind me of those Oak Tree worms, though: http://www.realgreenlawns.com/photogallery/photo31387/tree stuff 047.jpg
Cob webs are made by spiders.
WHOA! That’s insane!
…. and creepy…..
A cobweb is a spiderweb. Cobwebs are made by cobweb spiders (aka Tangle-web or comb-footed spiders). Either way this thing is pretty huge!
Damn, that web is huge! I dont like spider at all. Not that i’m affraid or something there just a bit creepy. But he, this looks pretty cool.
STEP ON SPIDER!!!
Great… thanks… now I will be having nightmares for weeks… as if the Hillary nightmares weren’t enough to keep me up at night reading dirty french novels, now I am going to have to take some noDoz, red bull tall boys, and a heavy dose of hunter s thompson.
Evolution into a collective? This should be studied further.
Spider pig, Spider pig!
You are quick on the news…this only happened last year
That’s not real. I think that’s one of those fake webs that you can get at a gag store.
That just made my spine tingle! Freaky!!!
Uh… do you really think one spider could do that?? It’s a whole bunch of them.
I would be really scared to be down there, even in a golf car!
no, i think it’s the interwebs….
i’m glad the finally found it!
A cob-web and a spider-web, is the same thing, so i guess you are partly right.
Are those birch trees? There is a bug that make cocoon like homes on birch trees. This doesn’t look like a spider’s web. these insect are know as Birch Leaf Rollers. It looks to me as if that is what you are seeing in the picture.
Isn’t nature more than amazing ?
same shit retard
they are the same thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobweb
This is REALLY old news… from Summer 2007
This had park officials stumped on the builder, but after this photo was published, experts explained it as multiple spiders, all breeds working together, for one common objective….Yummy, squishy flies.
It’s a web. Made by spiders. Thus, it is a spider web.
What frightens me is that I’ve been there…
Needless to say, I will never, ever, ever go back.
Spiders give me the frikken willies… especially ones that make webs the size of a small country.
Must be HUNGRY! Mmmmmmm
It looks like the work of tent caterpillers, not spiders.
it’s amazing! great spider,but i don’t like spiders too
Research?

Made from leafspringz, and tiny little spider too, booooooring
go finalgear!
actually it is a spider-web, not all spiders sin spiral webbing, some have chaotic styled approaches such as the Black Widow, others coat surfaces in webs such as our little friend in the picture above or even ground spiders such as a the Trap-Door spider. Although this web above was not created by one spider, it is created by a colony, so-to-speak, of these particular spiders, they just coat everything. Having a problem with bugs, get a few of these for your garden
Why are some spider webs called cobwebs.
Cobweb comes from the Middle English or Middle Dutch word for spider,
coppe, web.
a cob web is a spider web. there are many different designs.
A cobweb is a spideweb smart guy.
Errr.. a cob-web is a spider-web.
where’s meh flame thrower
This is only like an hour away from Burger King in Dallas..
“The web was initially white, but turned dark when all the mosquitoes got caught in it.”
The solution to mosquito problems!
Spider pig Spiderpig Spider pig does whatever spiderpig does
wow! i bet my tarantula could do that too…. lol…. not….
uuhhhh!!! spiderman
These are some dumb ass comments. Who really cares what the difference between a spider web or a cob web is … But I agree it is a cob web from a spider pig … those spider pigs are all over down there …. it actually really sucks …

eric y and jay whitlow attempted to produce something similar for sammie’s birthday party but they got all caught up in the spray stuff and were unfortunately entombed in the process. sammie had a much happier birthday due to this.
Mental note: Don’t go camping at Lake Tawakoni.
