VIRTUAL IDIOTS Sure, there are folks who tend to stay online a bit too long and I even admit to going overboard a few times myself. However, there is such a thing as crossing over into the realm of total absurdity, which is what happened recently in Suwon, South Korea. Reportedly, a couple got so engrossed at an internet cafe, spending as much as 12 hours nightly there, that they seem to have totally forgotten about their real life responsibilities. While nurturing an online avatar child in PRIUS, an online virtual game, they apparently lost track of the fact that they had a precious human 3-month-old back at home. As the callous parents played away, the infant was left starving and alone at their apartment. Upon their return one night, they discovered that their child was deceased. The tiny girl had died because nobody was home to feed her. Justifiably, the neglectful couple was charged with child abuse.
