   Royal Caribbean alright built one the same size back in '06 Called Freedom of the Seas and they're already planning an even bigger class of ships called the "Genesis class" due out in '09 which is suppose to have a gross tonnage of 220,000... Might as well just retire on a cruise ship... these things are better than most apartments.

   This is great if you want to experience a jaded perspective of the world. It's like traveling the world over and only seeing other rich people. Just like in the real world right. We need more cruise ships and less poor people in the world right? Jerome.

   I've done both a cruise and travel the world much more "exposed" to the realities. Cruising is definitely a finite, extremely narrow way to experience the world. I realize it suits many because it is comfortable and controlled, but it does not give you a real experience of any country you may visit. For a holiday to be pampered and see different sights, it is definitely an escape. If that's what you want, its great. Too often cruise lines market cruising as a way to experience the world, and that simply isn't true. The only way to experience a different country or culture is to get out of your own environment and dive into theirs. It is challenging but very rewarding way to travel. It all depends on what you want from your vacation.

   I just don't see the point in making it a cruise ship. It might as well be a Vegas hotel that occasionally reappears in the Bahamas, Cancun, or wherever it is it go. It is not a way to "experience the world" per se, but then again many tourists don't get the hang of that anyway. People often take long flights to to exotic destinations only to visit the top five landmarks, buy a t-shirt, snap some photos and leave. Which itself is a step of from a trip to Disneyland/world, where your entire vacation takes place in a bubble explicitly created to shelter you from the real world. Liberty of the Seas is genuine entertainment and relaxation, and does provide time off from your word-a-day world, but don't try and pass it off as travel when the ship itself is the destination.

   Boring! This wouldn't be for me! You're on the ocean, but it would be so far away. There would be no way to experience the ocean. No way to launch a bucket or a net to catch the phospherescence. It would be like going to vegas without the landscape. Who are these people who enjoy this stuff?

   I have vacationed on almost every continent and I have to say, my family of 6 considers our Royal Caribbean cruise our best experience yet. In order to get the most out of a vacation, you have to do it right. The Caribbean has a lot to offer somebody looking for a relaxing, educational, and fun vacation seeker. The boat itself has plenty to offer any vacation junkie. They provide delicious food, a great dining experience, reliable childcare, shopping, comedy shows, interactive game shows, karaoke, gym and spa, Johnny Rockets hamburgers, 24 hour buffet, Casino, rock climbing, miniature golf...I could go on and on and on. At each port you visit, you can choose from a large number of excursions. We found some of these excursions educational and fun. Some of our favorites were zip line tours, swimming with dolphins, helmet dive to the ocean floor, bubble submarine to view underwater caves and marine life, scuba diving, snorkeling, and a waterfall climb. Most excursions are fine for children of all ages. While a vacation to the Caribbean is a typical tropical vacation most families are looking for, its the perfect escape from reality providing constant fun for everybody aboard. Nights at sea are gorgeous and unforgettable. The staff was wonderfull and the boat was clean. Our royal caribbean cruise was the first time in 22 years of vacationing together that we were able to let loose and let the kids experience each of their interests for 7 days without cell phones, maps, taxis, traffic, dinner reservations and planes trains and automobiles. What more could you want out of a vacation?????? CRUISING ROCKS!

    I wonder. These ships are like small cities. I never see securi gau opictures. even a mall has security guards. When your an these cruises do you see security guards walking around? Do they have a drunk tank?What happens when some one breaks tha l on board. How are yau as a passenger protected?

    I was wandering if it is possible during the west Caribbean cruise to do scuba diving? Can anyone respond on this, i want to go on 18 Sept. 2009 And if possible are there buddies who are interrested on this trip to dive?/

    I think I need to get on one of these cruises, seems like a great way to holiday. A perfect escape from the real world. Not all of us, want to lug backpacks around and stay in shitty hostels with stinky twats.....
